Curator's Notes:

Overdrive (along with Downshift and Camshaft) was part of the first Transformers mail-away offer. For $5usd and 4 "robot points" each (off the back of TF packaging) fans could order any combination of the three well designed sports car warriors.

Overdrive is an omnibot - I'm not clear on exactly what that means, I do know it involves being a mail-away figure. Overdrive is an unofficial triple changer and transforms between robot, Ferrari, and flying-with-guns-out-the-front Ferrari.

Overdrive has 2 problems: He has a very narrow footprint and falls over a lot, and he has one weapon too many which can easily be lost.

Overdrive, a mail-away transformer, has a cool design in car mode with a somewhat floppy robot mode.

overdrive was a solid character who never got his due respect in or out of the original television show.

G1 Transformers are the ones that started it all. Beginning in 1984 and going through 1990. Many of us enjoy these over others.
