Battle Beasts were originally a Takara series of toys known as Beastformers and tied into the Transformers continuity. Hasbro marketed them around the world as Battle Beasts with a heat-sensitive rubsign which featured either a water, wood, or fire symbol (to play a rock paper scissors type game). Rubsigns were completely random, so two identical figures could have different rubsigns. The figures were primarily sold in two-packs.
